They have some beautiful items in this store some smaller decorating items in the 15 to $30 range but tons of really expensive furniture items but if you're looking for something unique this is the place to shop.

I've never had great customer service at this store (despite spending an indecent amount of money there while we outfitted our cottage), but our last experience was the nail in the coffin. When carrying $400+ plus of goods to the counter on our last visit, down a narrow and crowded hall of bric-a-brac, we knocked over something on the floor by accident. We agreed to pay for it (despite it really not being our fault, but the layout of their wares), but when we asked about a discount for the curio (Cost? Last sale price?), we were told "Sorry you're disappointed about your experience". Ugh. A less genuine response would have been impossible. It wasn't until that moment that I realized "Why do I keep coming back to a store that acts as though it tolerates customers instead of welcomes them?" So I'm done with this store.

was thrilled to see all the treasures this place has until i went to pay for my purchase. To all my indigenous peers, this place DOES NOT RECOGNIZE your STATUS!I was quite taken aback so decided to leave without making my total purchase.

I bought two plastic Northern Expressions outdoor chairs on March 27, 2015, in a pink lemonade colour, with a white tête-à-tête tabletop between them. Pricey at $1279.00. In spite of the high price, I would have been okay with this, if it had not faded in colour. So now my set is dishwater pink, not the rich vibrant pink I chose initially - so I'm not a happy camper. At the same time, in spring of 2015, I purchased outdoor plastic chairs made by CR Plastics from Stratford, Ontario, in fuschia pink and sky blue to complement my pink chairs from Northern Expressions. I paid $300.00 for each of those chairs, and less than $100.00 for the complementary white tables and footstools. At less than half the price, the CR Plastics chairs have NOT faded, and are still a vibrant pink. I do love the way the unique style of the Northern Expressions chairs complements my CR Plastics chair sets, but I'm seriously disappointed that they have faded so badly. This is important enough to me that I would not recommend the Northern Expressions set to anyone who cares about the colour. If I were to do it again, I would buy a different chair, perhaps a rocking chair, from CR Plastics rather than the fading Northern Expressions set.

My wife and I purchased a cottage in the Haliburton Highlands. Because it was originally built as a permanent retirement home for the previous owner, we undertook some renovations to make the place look more cottage-like. This included purchasing various decor items at Northern Expressions over a number of years, ranging from chairs to doors stops. We have to admit that the selection is great at this store. However, our most recent visit was quite disappointing. We had purchased a decorative door stop for $14.99 plus tax, to replace one that had gotten misplaced. When we brought it back to the cottage, the replacement door stop did not work, that is, the portion of the stop which is to slide under the door was too thick. When we came back to Northern Expressions to try to do a simple exchange for a door stop which would fit, we were told that because we had no receipt and more than seven days had gone by, they could not take the door stop back. We explained that we were not looking for a refund but just an exchange. Regardless, the same policy applied. With the assumption that a fair amount of this store's business relies upon seasonal customers, namely cottage owners, who cannot just drive three hours one way from their permanent home in the city during a work day or even a weekend because of other commitments in order to return or exchange a purchase within a 7- day period, you would think that Northern Expressions would be a little flexible or have some discretion in its return policy. Too bad for them that they are not. We were intending to purchase some more items at the time we dropped by the regarding the exchange but after being told that this could not be done, my wife and I had no desire to remain in the store.
